Abstract
Titel: Restricting, fortifying or liberating? - An interview study about expressing yourself in several musical style areas
The purpose of this study is to find out what it means to a musician to express him- or herself in several musical style areas. From a hermeneutical perspective, interviews have been made with four musicians, who have studied jazz or classical music at a academy of music. Common to these four musicians is a special interest in some kind of popular music which they now combines with jazz or classical music as their areas of musical specialty. The result of this study shows that the musicians' interest in popular music started out in their teens and that they later developed this in parallel with jazz or classical... (More)

musical needs. To express themselves in several music style areas these musicians see as an enrichment but at the same time they sometimes think it is hard to find enough time for each style. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
