Two of the main questions have been: How does the interaction work between social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry and a support group for children and young people around children of mentally ill parents? What services is provided from above mentioned working teams/authorities for families with mental illness?
We have in our study chose to limit ourselves to only consider our field from the professionals perspective. We interviewed seven professionals from social work in some municipalities in southern Sweden. The interviews have taken place in direct meetings.
The results have shown that it varies how the interaction work between the professionals we have examined. Some believe they have a good and effective cooperation while others think the cooperation can be improved. There are even those authorities who have no cooperation at all.
Regarding interventions for children of mentally ill parents, it is common that the professionals use different forms of dialogue. There are children groups and support groups, where children can meet other children in similar situations. Conversational therapy is another effort. Social services can also bring in a support family. (Less)
