Abstract (Swedish)
The subject of discussion regards whether Finland had potential trade advantages compared to
Sweden before the financial crisis by having Euro as their currency compared to the Swedish
Krona. Likewise if Swedish economy recovered faster than the Finnish during the financial

macroeconomical variables is made to give the reader an understanding of the similarities
between the two countries. The statistics is divided into different trade sectors such as
engineering, manufacturing and timber industry. But also exports within the euro zone, within
EU zone and export outside the EU zone is examined. The main conclusion is that there is no
statistical evidence... (More)

EU zone and export outside the EU zone is examined. The main conclusion is that there is no
statistical evidence that Finland should have been better off compared to Sweden during the
period before the financial crisis. However, during the financial crisis there is statistical
evidence that Swedish export and trade within the studied fields recovered faster than the
Finnish equivalent. (Less)
