Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the possibility of treating patients within a psychiatric setting with an internet-based guided self-help treatment. The authors also looked into how the self-help treatment was evaluated by the patients. Five participants were recruited to the study and a so-called case series was employed as design. To evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment a method called Jacobson-Truax was used. This method aims to measure clinical significance and was partly utilized because of the small number of participants in the study, but also because of the absence of studies examining this type of significance in the research field of today. The results from this study showed that there are some indications... (More)

This method aims to measure clinical significance and was partly utilized because of the small number of participants in the study, but also because of the absence of studies examining this type of significance in the research field of today. The results from this study showed that there are some indications that patients with social phobia can benefit from the current treatment. Four out of five patients showed improvements after the treatment. The results in the current study can indicate trends. However, to gain further proof about whether the current treatment program is effective for patients with social phobia within a psychiatric setting, more studies, with a larger sample is needed.
