To analyze our themes and results we used three different gender theorists, R.W Connell, Don Zimmermann and Yvonne Hirdman. The study shows that the social workers interpretation of gender has an impact on the meeting between the social worker and the client as well as it affects the intervention. The conclusion is that most of the social workers interpretations of gender are based on normative thoughts regarding the sex of the clients. The male drug addicts are described as being the norm in the addiction network and in treatment of drug addicts. The female addicts are described as dissentient and as a victim. (Less)
