The study shows that, although not always considered as being part of the team, the counsellor’s professional role is highly appreciated in the team. It also shows that the counsellor sits on a particular kind of professional competence related both to the community as a whole and to a capacity to make contact, talk to and support patients and their relatives as well as the hospital staff.
