Abstract
This Master Thesis was carried out at Ecolean Development AB, which is a subsidiary to Ecolean AB.
Light weighted packages have become an alternative to carton packages which is the most common used around the world. The largest markets are Asia and Eastern Europe. Light weight package has low impact environmentally because of its minimal energy consumption during production. The package is filled aseptic by filling machines to ensure a good sustainability.

Gathering information internally at Ecolean, identifying and analyzing problems and limitations about the present situation was a necessity when a number of concepts were created and evaluated in a concept selection. The results from the test face showed an improvement to a status were the amount of waste no longer could be related to the cut opening unit. The selected concepts were then manufactured and tested until a final concept was chosen for serial production. (Less)
