Abstract
Problem
The often informal new service development processes and less structured decision processes for
strategic decisions about service portfolio of service companies, makes it especially interesting to
investigate the prerequisites for, and develop a formal process for decision making about new
service development and create the right decision quality in these decisions. The main problem
becomes:
How can the right decision quality be created in portfolio strategic decisions about new
service development in professional service companies?

Problem
The often informal new service development processes and less structured decision processes for
strategic decisions about service portfolio of service companies, makes it especially interesting to
investigate the prerequisites for, and develop a formal process for decision making about new
service development and create the right decision quality in these decisions. The main problem
becomes:
How can the right decision quality be created in portfolio strategic decisions about new
service development in professional service companies?
The special conditions for service companies regarding product quality and decision quality in
strategic decisions, where service quality by theory in great extent is based on the ability to manage
the customer relation, makes it interesting to investigate and suggest a generic model for how ways
of working for managing the customer relationship is the foundation of good business in service
companies and how the activities associated with managing the customer relationship could be
made visible throughout the service company. (Less)
