- Abstract
- This report contains an evaluation of the fire safety regarding evacuation in Östermalms Saluhall, a well known market and food hall in Stockholm, capital of Sweden. The market is a center for high quality delicacies of many kinds and has been since the late 19th century. Many people visit the market every day especially in conjunction to official holidays like Easter, Christmas and the Swedish midsummer to purchase ingredients or prepared culinary delicacies. - This report contains an evaluation of the fire safety regarding evacuation in Östermalms Saluhall, a well known market and food hall in Stockholm, capital of Sweden. Many people visit the market every day especially in conjunction to official holidays like Easter, Christmas and the Swedish midsummer to purchase ingredients or prepared culinary delicacies. To evaluate the safety of the building a risk analysis was made which determined three scenarios with the highest likelihood of occurring and the worst consequence in matter of bodily injuries. To evaluate the scenarios the computer programs CFAST and DetactQS together with hand calculations was used to determine time to critical conditions. The program Simulex determined the egress time for each scenario. By comparing time to critical conditions and egress time the time margin for evacuation could be evaluated. The time margin appears to be negative for some parts of the building and therefore several measures to secure and assure the fire security of the building is labored. All these measured, both labored and recommended, are presented in the end of this report. (Less)
