On the basis of Human Rights and the concept of individual freedom of choice this essay describes and analyses the different perceptions and arguments in this ongoing public debate. The dominating ideas in this debate are found in two different ideological camps. The essay shows the complicated character of this debate as the arguments often are founded in exclusively emotional positions and attitudes. The analysis also points out that the discussion on the Sex Purchase Law and on prostitution mainly focuses on women while those who really are the roots of the problem, the men who purchase sex, more or less are disregarded and ignored.
