- Abstract
- Children with mentally ill parents have been invisible for a long period of time. The aim of the study was to give a better insight in how the childhood of these children can be. I’ve done a qualitative text analysis of five self-biographic books. I’ve studied these books with help of development ecology and attachment theory. I’ve also been looking at the resilience and factors that have an influence on the child’s wellbeing. Growing up with a mentally ill parent is complicated and have a great affect on the child. The relationship with the ill parent is effected and the child needs aren't always met. Also the non ill parent can have a hard time to fulfill the child's needs.
