- Abstract (Swedish)
- This paper examines the potential decrease in Swedish green house gas emissions as a
result of a more ecologically sustainable household consumption. The consumption
changes modelled are; a vegan diet, reduced household electricity use and changed
private traveling patterns. To do this, the Swedish version of the software programme Resource and Energy Analysis Program (REAP Sweden) is being used. Methodologically, REAP bulids on environmentally extended input output analysis, accounting embodied greenhouse gas emissions associated with a certain demand. Thus, emissions are accounted using a consumption perspective. Since there are no previous papers using REAP Sweden, this paper develops a method for how to apply the programme. It... It also contains a discussion regarding how such changes in consumption interacts with the dynamics of the economic system, and how this might alter the conclusion. Finally, the probability of households making such changes in consumption is explored. Results imply that the changes in household consumption modelled could generate a marginal decrease in Swedish green house gas emissions in the short run. However, in a growing economy, emissions will continously increase irrespectable of the consumption changes modelled, ceteris paribus. (Less)
