Abstract
Purpose The purpose of the study is to investigate what Procordia needs to do to increase the number of packaging ideas which leads to product launches, where the packaging is the unique selling point.
Method The study has been conducted through a system approach because of the importance of a holistic view while making the study. The research method has been an abductive method due to the alternating between theory and empirics. The study has a qualitative focus where data has been collected through semi structured interviews with the company‟s employees as well as through benchmarking companies. Theoretical studies have also been of great importance to the study.
Theory The study includes a theory chapter used as a base for the study.... (More)

Theory The study includes a theory chapter used as a base for the study. The theory covers factors for creation of ideas in the company such as factors that affect creativity, inspiration and sources for new ideas and internal creation and communication of ideas. Further, the theory covers parts of packaging development.
Conclusions The authors recommend that Procordia investigates packaging needs and wants to the fullest possible extend to get a better understanding for the customers and consumers problems, needs and wishes. By doing that unique selling points for a product can be identified. The investigation could beneficially be executed through letting consumers test prototypes, analysis of other markets and involvement of external actors. The gathered knowledge should also be communicated throughout the company, and especially to the packaging developers which are meant to create packaging ideas and solve packaging problems.
The authors suggest specific meetings with a focus on packaging. This is important to assure that packaging ideas discussed and processed. Packaging ideas should also be treated in a separate system and gathered together. When gathering ideas together they can be combined and developed and potentially create ideas which can create synergy effects.
The authors recommend that packaging development is involved earlier in the development process. An integrated product and packaging development process is needed to guarantee that the packaging does not come in too late in the process. For longer processes, the authors suggest separate projects where the packaging once again is in focus.
By evaluation and documentation of the project process, Procordia can gain knowledge of successful and less successful projects. By doing so, the employees can understand why a consumer need was fulfilled or why it was not. Documentation also makes sure that the knowledge is not lost. (Less)
