Abstract
The Seve Nappe Complex of the Upper Allochthon contains parts critical to the understanding of the origin and evolution of the Scandinavian Caledonides. The metamorphic grade of the complex is generally amphibolite, locally eclogite facies. The protolith of the underlying Särv Nappes of the Middle Allochthon is very similar to that of parts of the Seve Nappe Complex.
The studied area consists of mylonites derived from metasedimentary rocks and slices of crystalline rocks. The units can be correlated with the Middle allochton in the central Scandinavian Caledonides. Results obtained from Kober dating of zircons of the crystalline rock (Vistasgranit) are so far inconclusive; however, a Sveconorwegian origin of the granite cannot be... (More)

The units can be correlated with the Middle allochton in the central Scandinavian Caledonides. Results obtained from Kober dating of zircons of the crystalline rock (Vistasgranit) are so far inconclusive; however, a Sveconorwegian origin of the granite cannot be excluded. If so, this unit could have derived from a northern extension of the Sveconorwegian province.
Due to the higher metamorphic grade of rocks of the Middle Allochton in the Kebnekaise area, the traditional distinction between the Särv Nappes and the Upper Allochthon becomes less significant. (Less)
