There are historical sources that prove that the king owned the land that the town has grown up on and then got blank tax. The king has been interested in the ground along the coast could be due to the fact that there has been a sort of cliff who has given a free view over the Strait. Location of the town is at the narrowest part of the sea between Själland and Skåne. This narrow part has shared the then Danish kingdom into two parts and it would have been good for the King to have control and supervision of the Strait. There have been people who have lived in the area during the stone, bronze and iron age, so the surroundings can be interpreted to have been a good thing to live with. Exactly why the central places in the area didn’t grow is a difficult issue that might not be possible to. But on thing is sure, and that is that its location has been a great factor for the growth of Helsingborg. (Less)
