Abstract (Swedish)
In Sweden, implementation of one-to-one computing in schools is a very current subject, because more and more schools decide to make an implementation. The goals are to improve the study results of the students and in a higher degree be able to individualize the education after the needs of every pupil.

The purpose of this thesis is to study how an implementation of one-to-one
computing will affect the work situation of school librarians. At the same time I also want to find out how school librarians can affect the work with one-to-one computing on schools.

This study starts from a combination of research about school library, information searching and one-to-one computing, due there is no research today that study how an implementation affects the work situation of school librarians. The empirical part of the study includes six interviews with school librarians who all work on schools that made implementations of one-to-one computing some years ago. The focus of the
interviews was how the librarians experienced that the implementation had affected their work situation.

The results show that it´s hard for the librarians to clearly point out what has changed in their work since the implementation. Three strategies for school librarians have been identified. One is to focus more on a teaching role with more time spent in the classrooms. The second is to pay more attention to reading comprehension, though the increase of information that every student stands in front of makes it even more
important to be able to read and take in lots of texts. The third way to go is to stay in the library and become an assistant for the students in their information seeking process. This function also includes helping students with technical problems. These three strategies can be combined. (Less)
