Title: Hurtbullar och smala ideal! – En jämförande studie om ungas och äldres mottagande och upplevelse av medias hälsobudskap

The purpose of this study was to examine the receptivity of Media’s image of health with focus on age differences. Our study sample consisted of two focus groups, one group consisted of five 16-19 year olds and the other of six elderlies aged 65 +. We chose a qualitative method, focus group interviews, in order to capture the groups’ experience of Media’s health messages and to examine the group interaction within the groups. We also picked three TV clips with different health messages that we showed during our focus group interviews, with the purpose to provoke thoughts and experiences in the groups, a kind of modified vignette method. This resulted in many discussions about experiences of Media’s health messages. Through transcribing, coding and analyzing the interviews, we found that age and experience had some bearing on how the messages were received and perceived. We also realized that group interaction affects how you communicate experience and receptivity. (Less)
