Abstract
This report contains a fire safety evaluation of Kyrkskolan, Svedala. Kyrkskolan is an educational institution in the community of Svedala that houses a primary school, preschool and kindergarten. Parts of the building are roughly 100 years old and there has been a need to investigate if the fire safety is satisfactory with respect to present regulations and risk acceptance.

The aim of this work has been to evaluate the fire safety with focus upon occupational safety. The work method is mainly based on a quantitative approach and some qualitative reasoning. The aim of this work has been to evaluate the fire safety with focus upon occupational safety. The work method is mainly based on a quantitative approach and some qualitative reasoning. Four critical scenarios in the building have been chosen for evaluation. Every scenario deals with a fire that is calculated and simulated in CFAST. In parallel, egress simulations are performed for each scenario in Simulex. A time margin is calculated for each scenario with collected time data for critical conditions and evacuation time.

The results show unacceptable conditions for egress in most cases. @RISK is used to treat uncertainties and to show important factors that can be used to reduce the risks. Measures are evaluated and suggested in order to secure satisfactory safety. (Less)
