Abstract
The flow of information must be more effective to optimize and improve the supply chain process. For the two case studies, there is a portal
that manages the information. The contractor provides documents that the provider needs to submit quotation for a project purchase. All the handling of documents is made in the portal but the quote is sent by e-mail back to the contractor. For a purchase by call-offs against a contract, it is the provider that provide information through the portal, so that the buyer easily can make their purchases. The processes work well but would be better if all the information were gathered in the portal.

The processes work well but would be better if all the information were gathered in the portal.
Today, there is no general method for the delivery process. Delivery notification will take place days before the delivery, usually by telephone and when the goods arrive, a visual inspection of the received goods is made so that everything consistent with the packing slip, and that nothing is damaged. By conducting a precisely and documented reception, the information can be stored and used for after- following activities in the process and automatic controls can be implemented. To get a more conducted documentation it is required that the material is id-marked. Identification labels will also increase the possibility to easier follow the material to the workplace, resulting in better communication between the parties.
Electronic invoices are becoming more common but still, many businesses receive paper invoices and must scan them. If the invoice is received fully electronic checks can be performed automatically on the information in an integrated system. Such system would also contain information on follow-ups. (Less)
