Abstract
The essay is about the history of Islam in Japan. The first chapters tells the story about how the Japanese society came to be and why the contact with the Muslim world would begin fist at the end of the 19th century. The chapters after that describes the history of Islam in Japan and the translation of the Quran. The Muslim organizations and the different mosques in Tokyo are described before the last part of the essay starts. In this last part I write about how life in the Muslim community in Tokyo is and what struggles a Muslim in today's Tokyo will face. The final chapter contains a conclusion and final discussion.
