- Abstract (Swedish)
- Environmental concepts are nowdays used so often that their meanings can be questioned. It seems as if everyone claims to act in a sustainable way. But what does sustainability really mean? If actors do not share the same understanding of environmental concepts it will be impossible to address the problem in question. If actors do not share the same understanding of environmental concepts it will be impossible to address the problem in question. Theories exist stating that it is through policy that society defines a problem and also gives concepts like "sustainability" a common definition. This essay studies the understanding of the "climate transition" concept among environmental stakeholder in the region of Skåne, in Southern Sweden. The study therefore focuses on how this concept is being used in regional environmental policy and how it is being used by regional stakeholders. The study shows that the understanding of environmental problems in general is rather similar. However, the notion on how to address the problems differs. The understanding of the "climate adaptation" concept also differs. The policy-discourse sees no need to change our ways of living since climate adaptation and economic growth go hand in hand.
Conversely, most regional actors do not share the view of the policy-discourse and see the need of societal changes. These changes are held back by an insufficient political system and among the regional actors there is a general distrust in the political system to handle environmental issues. (Less)
