Syfte
Purpose
The aim of our study is to investigate how the dimensions of brand equity are influenced by the fashion companies choice of sales channels to make a contribution to the brand equity research.
Methodology
The research strategy for this study is a quantitative method and a deductive process with formulation of hypotheses. The collection of data was made through a survey via web where the respondents had to evaluate a fictive brand description according to an experimental research design and answered questions by gradation on a seven-point likert scale.
Theoretical
percpectives
The theories about the three different sales channels; physical store, online store & brick and click, is the theoretical base for this study. This theory is complemented with theories of branding and brand equity where Kotler and Keller's (2005) Brand Resonance Model is the starting point for our investigation. The theoretical framework also includes an addition of Rios and Riquelme's (2008) trust dimension for the customized online brand equity model. The theoretical framework concludes a formulation of hypotheses according to the dimensions of the Brand Resonance Model.
Empirical
foundation
The empirical data is based on a structured web survey and was answered by respondents who were selected through a convenience sample of a target population of swedish men and women aged 20 to 30 years old.
Conclusions
We found that it is advantageous to add a physical store to an existing online store to get a positive effect on brand equity. We also found that the results indicates that a choice of a physical store has a positive impact for the various dimensions of brand equity and that the results also indicates that a choice of a brick and click-sales channel have a positive impact for the dimensions of brand equity.
