The essay is based on 31 surveys, four Journals and four semi-structured interviews and searches to find out respondents' perception of quality time, its formation and its importance for the relationship whit their children. For the analysis of the material, I have used the individualization theory which has been a useful tool for the understanding of the modern family. The theory gave me the ability to understand the family, as well as the individual, in their process of change. The outcome of this study indicates that parents' view of quality time and the requirements they put on themselves, have significance on whether they feel they are doing enough for their children or not. The emphasis is on the parents' own perception of what good parenting is and how it should be expressed in the time they spend with the children. (Less)
