Abstract
This thesis aims to understand and define the core characteristics of the concept integration and thus allow the writer to analyze the Swedish integration policy set at national level. Further, integration should be understood as a holistic two-way process between the groups and individuals of society and is not to be considered as a one-way process for minorities to adapt to the host society. By applying the theoretical framework through a three dimensioned tool for analysis the thesis evaluates whether the Swedish integration policy correspond with the definition of integration set out earlier. The results of the analysis points to a policy with a satisfactory understanding of the concept although some of the recently published statements is pointing towards a one-way motivated adaption policy for migrants and minorities.
