This essay describes the situation of the national and global problem of youth
unemployment, and furthermore it investigates how a selected local youth
unemployment project works with the youth that they are in contact with. Title: “The new exclusion of youth – A qualitative study of a local project with the purpose of helping unemployed youth towards occupation and inclusion.”

This essay describes the situation of the national and global problem of youth
unemployment, and furthermore it investigates how a selected local youth
unemployment project works with the youth that they are in contact with. This study is based on observations, which have been a way to truly see how the professionals and participants of the project interact, and what the project can do for the youths involved, not only jobwise but also practically, regarding their entire social situation. It is tough to return to a life of studying or working once you have been excluded in this time being (whether it has been involuntary or your own choice) from school or the employment sphere. There is now a new form of class in our society, called the precariat, and it consists of those in our society who live in unstable conditions regarding economics and uncertain parts of their lives, such as poor working conditions. Through this study we have been able to come to the conclusion that there is no definite solution for this problem, but through this local youth unemployment project, we have been able to see that there are small ways towards helping young people regain their confidence and strengthening their social network, and eventually gain a stable position in society.
