Ansikte mot ansikte med döden. Psykoterapeuters arbete med cancerpatienter
(2014) PSPT02 20132Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)

The therapists described that it is hard to distinguish death as an isolated topic in therapy – death pervades everything. They considered death as primarily reflected in the patients’ needs to look back at their lives and work through separations, but also apparent in the hospital environment and on the degraded body. The importance of approaching patients with tolerance to all occurring reactions was emphasized, as well as to be present as a human being, to share the heavy burdens of the patients’ and to meet them without a predefined template. The therapists reported work-related consequences such as worry, uncertainty, grief and feelings of guilt, but also that the work has stimulated private reflections on life and death. (Less)
