The result of the study shows mental ill-health to be a multifaceted and complex problem which manifests itself in many different ways. It is not possible to draw any conclusion as to what constitutes mental ill-health or not. Drawing from the counselor’s descriptions we have been able to identify that expressions of mental ill-health are constructed differently for girls and boys. The result also shows there are a wide range of causes for mental ill-health, from micro to macro level. The counselors don´t present an obvious solution to the problem, as they mean it varies from one individual to another. At the same time it is perceived as a problem which demands measures on a meso and macro level to decrease mental ill-health amongst students. (Less)
