Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
This thesis investigated the prevalence of workplace bullying and its relation to perceived stress, self-rated health and sick absence in a group of psychologists (N = 339). The study was conducted using an online survey. Two methods were employed to measure the prevalence of workplace bullying. The respondents were asked to first rate how often during the last six months they had been exposed to negative acts in the workplace, and second, to state if they had been subjected to bullying during the last six or 12 months. Furthermore, the respondents were asked about their perceived stress, their general health and the number of sick absence days during the last six months. The results showed that the prevalence of workplace bullying in the... (More)

Furthermore, the respondents were asked about their perceived stress, their general health and the number of sick absence days during the last six months. The results showed that the prevalence of workplace bullying in the sample was on a level equivalent to the ones found within professions with known bullying problems. Moreover, the results showed that victims of bullying perceived more stress than did non-bullied. The ones who had been bullied also rated their health as worse and reported more sickness absence than did non-bullied, although the differences between the two groups were small. The correlational design of the study does not, however, make for conclusions about causal relations between the variables. (Less)
