The aim of this study was to get preschool-teachers views and experiences on previously researched areas surrounding the notification tendency regarding mandatory reporting. The mandatory report contains an obligation to immediately report suspected child maltreatment according to the Swedish Social Services Act 14 chapter 1§, the second paragraph. This study examines preschool teachers' views on the following areas: The knowledge on mandatory reporting, the preschool resources, experience with social service, contact with parents and the uncertainty in determining if a child is maltreated. I did five interviews with five preschool teachers from three preschools. The study was based on a qualitative approach and the interviews were conducted semi-structured. In order to analyze my results, I have used symbolic interactionism theory based on role theory and collaboration. The results show that preschool teachers would like more knowledge. There has been very little contact between preschool teachers and social service regarding child maltreatment. The results also show that preschool teachers make use of the preschool resources if there is uncertainty whether a child is maltreated. The preschool teachers relation to the parents would not prevent them to report if they know that a child is maltreated. But the results also show that preschool teachers tend not to act on suspected maltreatment only. Rather they tend to look for hard evidence or wait until they feel certain until they report child maltreatment.
