- Abstract (Swedish)
Unit stream power erosion deposition (USPED) is an erosion model which includes many different factors and to be able to use the model both knowledge about how these factors are calculated and detailed data are needed. A simpler but reliable model is therefore wanted for example to be used at municipality level in advising farmers where to place mitigation measures. A simple tool for this purpose was created by the consulting company Ekologgruppen. The aim of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of a risk assessment carried out with the tool from Ekologgruppen compared to a risk assessment carried out with USPED. The tool by Ekologgruppen calculates a flow accumulation, based on a digital elevation model (DEM) which describes topography, from which risk areas are defined. USPED are based on the same DEM but also four other factors which describes the soil erodibility, the erosivity of precipitation, vegetation cover and management and support practices. It is also examined in this study how the risk assessments are affected by if the sinks in the DEM used in both models are filled or not. The risk assessments from USPED resulted in more scattered risk areas which intersected within a range of 34 to 35 % with the risk areas from the risk assessment carried out with the tool from Ekologgruppen. The main areas were however the same since the risk areas intersected within a range of 70 to 73% within eight meters. Compared to USPED the tool by Ekologgruppen was then evaluated to be sufficient to be used for advising farmers where to place mitigation measures against phosphorus loss. In the case of filling the sinks in the DEM or not it is not clear how it affects the result. A field evaluation to see which DEM that gives a more correct result compared to reality or if only some sink should be filled would be an interesting follow up on this study. (Less)
