(Less) - Abstract
- In this thesis we have investigated the usability and availability of open source software for identification of fingerprints, and investigated the possibility of using structure from motion to enhance facial recognition.
In the aftermath of the events on September 11th, and the following War on terror, identification and verification at both companies and airports have become areas of major interest.
Biometrics offer several improvements over classical identification, for example it cannot be lost or misplaced.
To this end we investigated the possibility of using open source software for fingerprint verification and the possibility of using structure from motion for facial recognition.

Biometrics offer several improvements over classical identification, for example it cannot be lost or misplaced.
To this end we investigated the possibility of using open source software for fingerprint verification and the possibility of using structure from motion for facial recognition.
We performed a small scale test of fingerprint readers, and performed a proof of concept for face liveness detection using structure from motion.
We found that it is possible to detect certain fraudulent attempts to bypass an access control system using our proof of concept. And that the tested fingerprint software can be adapted for use in an access control system. (Less) - Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
