Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between mentalizing capacity, stress, social and innovative workplace environment for primary school teachers in Sweden. In addition, the moderating and mediating effect of social and innovative workplace environment on the relationship between mentalizing capacity and perceived stress was also explored. Sample group (n=113) data was collected through a self-assessment questionnaire, which contained sociodemographic questions and three instruments. The instruments measured perceived stress, mentalizing capacity, social and innovative workplace environment. Data was analysed with SPSS and Hayes PROCESS; Pearson correlation, t-test and multiple regression analysis. The results... (More)

The results indicate a significant negative relationship between perceived stress and social and innovative workplace environment. Mentalizing capacity and perceived stress had a significant correlation for women in five of six subscales with strongest positive correlation between the subscale low defense level and perceived stress. The data analysis showed opposite directions in the relationship between mentalizing capacity and perceived stress for women and men. Social and innovative workplace environment mediates the relationship between the subscale low defense level and perceived stress. Social and innovative workplace climate moderates the relationship between the subscale concrete thinking and perceived stress in opposite directions. This study is the first to examine the relationship between mentalizing capacity, perceived stress, and social and innovative workplace environment. The results indicate association and hence the importance of further research within this area. (Less)
