Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
Abstract
This pilot study examined attachment of a group children in middle childhood living with joint custody, also what they say about their relationships with significant others. The study was based on the transcribed interviews (Friends and Family Interview, FFI) and stories (Secure Base Script Test, SBST) from two previous studies. Children living with joint custody (n = 20) were selected. Material was coded and analyzed quantitatively for safe base, idealization, role reversal and anger. Also, a thematic analysis was implemented of the FFI. 60 % of the chil- dren showed a secure attachment, which doesn’t differ from normative data based on popula- tion in general. The mother was the secure base, mainly for the secure children. Although the... (More)

The mother was the secure base, mainly for the secure children. Although the children were not living with both parents they often said "them", which indicate that the child’s experiences of attachment to each parent was integrated into one internal working mod- el. It was also found that the mother was idealized, especially by the insecure children. Role reversal occurred rarely and in connection with parents' fights, nor did the children show much anger. Best friend and grandmother constituted security for some children. Important for future studies is to take into account stepparents and their significance for the child's attachment. (Less)
