Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
Attraction toward a potential sexual partner has been shown to be the cause of signals of evolutionary value. Studies on sexual signals that display that an individual possess abilities that is beneficial to a potential offsprings survival, have often been about physical cues. In this thesis, the aspect of personality as a sexual signal is explored and a study were done, investigating if displaying self-confidence works as a signal by influencing the perceived attractiveness. A 2x2x2 repeated measure design were used with the variables gender, physical attraction, and self-confidence to see if perceived attraction were influenced by self-confidence. The participants were recruited through social forums on the internet and the experiment... (More)

The participants were recruited through social forums on the internet and the experiment were done online. An interaction was found between level of physical attractiveness and level of displayed self-confidence, supporting that selfconfidence has a positive effect on attractiveness for low physically attractive individuals of both sexes.
