Abstract
Researchers have raised the phenomenon where co-workers now are ascribed a more engaged part at different organizational levels. One example is that social functions that previously have been used in external communication now have appeared in an internal context, where social intranets have become a tool for this new, co-creating part. The purpose of this thesis is to, through a case study using interviews and netnography, study Folkuniversitetets social intranet. Thereby the study aims to contribute to an understanding of how expectations meet the communication that takes place in practice, and also to increase the understanding of employee engagement at the social intranet. The study shows that a social intranet could contribute to engagement, but that several ingredients are needed in order to reach all the way. It is suggested that that the introduction of the social intranet should be done through a mutual process in order for it to function as an engaging and democratic platform that includes all types of employees. Forskare har lyft fenomenet där medarbetaren numera tillskrivs en mer engagerad roll på olika plan i organisationen. Ett exempel är att sociala funktioner som tidigare framförallt använts för extern kommunikation även börjat dyka upp i interna sammanhang, där sociala intranät har blivit ett verktyg för denna nya medskapande roll. Syftet med uppsatsen är att, genom en fallstudie i form av intervjuer och netnografi, studera Folkuniversitetets sociala intranät. På så vis ämnar studien bidra med förståelse kring hur förväntningarna motsvarar den kommunikation som sker i praktiken, samt öka förståelsen kring medarbetarengagemang på det sociala intranätet.
