- Abstract
- Glued-in Rods (GiR) is a relative new connection type that could be used for creating hidden joints in timber structures. These hidden joints are more esthetic appealing in contrast to ordinary joints with toothed plates, nails and bolts. With the use of GiR the connectors gets an automatic protection in case of fire while unprotected steel loses all of its strength in case of fire.
In this report an attempt to design the joint with regards to current Swedish standards and recommendations is made. Where standards and recommendations are not satisfied, a guide to reinforce the joint to obtain some guidelines is presented. The simulation and analysis are made in ABAQUS CAE.

(Less)
