Abstract
This thesis studies different methods of surveying geodetic reference networks in tunnels. The study is limited to surveys in the horizontal plane. Real survey data from project Hallandsås is used, but computer-aided simulations are also done.

The tunnel through Hallandsås ridge is a part of the extension of Västkustbanan, an important railway connection between Gothenburg and Malmo. Two parallel tunnels, about 9 km long, are being constructed. The tunnels are built with different methods, partly by drilling and blasting and with a tunnel-boring machine (TBM).

The tunnel through Hallandsås ridge is a part of the extension of Västkustbanan, an important railway connection between Gothenburg and Malmo. Two parallel tunnels, about 9 km long, are being constructed. The tunnels are built with different methods, partly by drilling and blasting and with a tunnel-boring machine (TBM).

As there are high demands on accuracy in the geodetic reference networks in tunnels, it is important to optimize the methods for surveying. Refraction along the tunnel lining can cause trouble in open-ended traverses. In this thesis, two different methods for measuring the tunnel construction networks are reviewed and compared. One method is based on fixed wall points, while the other one is based on surveys made from stable steel pillars close to the tunnel center.

The result from our field studie in the Hallandsas tunnel indicates that the reference network surveyed close the tunnel center causes less refraction affects. Computer simulations of the same methods predict the opposite results.

We cannot however make certain conclusions; other factors may have influenced our results. Movements in the tunnel walls, or a small twist in the connection network may be misinterpreted as an effect of refraction. (Less)

Eftersom det sätts höga krav på noggrannhet i de geodetiska referensnäten i tunnlar, är det viktigt att optimera mätförfarandet. Refraktion längs tunnelväggarna kan medföra stora problem i flygande polygontåg. I detta examensarbete kommer två olika metoder för mätning av byggnät att granskas och jämföras. En metod baseras på att mätning utförs från väggmonterade mätpunkter medan den andra baseras på mätning från fasta stålpelare, nära tunnelcentrum.

Resultaten från vår fältstudie i Hallandsåstunneln antyder att stomnätet närmast tunnelcentrum påverkas mindre av refraktion. Datorsimuleringar av samma metoder förutspår det motsatta.

Det går dock inte att dra några definitiva slutsatser eftersom det kan finnas andra faktorer som påverkar resultatet. Rörelser i tunnelväggar, eller en liten vridning av anslutningsnätet kan misstolkas som en effekt av refraktion. (Less)
