- A well-functioning public transport is a central part of a sustainable society. Public transport fills not only an important function for the movement of people, public transport also provides a large economic benefit in terms of security and environmental benefits. It is therefore of great importance that public transport has the ability to provide good and qualitative trips so that it can seriously compete with the car. - A well-functioning public transport is a central part of a sustainable society. Public transport fills not only an important function for the movement of people, public transport also provides a large economic benefit in terms of security and environmental benefits. It is therefore of great importance that public transport has the ability to provide good and qualitative trips so that it can seriously compete with the car. Höllviken is a locality situated in Vellinge municipality. Today, the car is the dominant type of transport in the urban area, which the municipality wants to see a change on. This report identifies the problems in Höllviken regarding travel by public transport and aims to increase ridership in the urban area and to find a solution for bus route 152, which at present does not reach the important target points. In the report, several studies have been made to discover the cause of the low ridership in the urban area. Travel time quotas was prepared, kollektivtrafikbarometern was used, surveys were distributed to travelers and the bus drivers who drive the buses in Höllviken were interviewed. These studies, together with the theory part resulted in proposed action that can tackle the problems detected. Travel by public transport in Höllviken is low and is composed mostly of students and young people, followed by working. There are few seniors who use public transport. The trips consist mostly of women. With the help of an inventory of the urban area, three measures have been developed and evaluated in case they are possible to be implemented. The measures that were developed have to do with the bus line 152. This bus line offers at present some travelers unnecessarily long travel time and do not reach the important destinations such as Toppen gallerian. We propose, as a solution, an enlargement of the ring line according to UA3b. We believe that UA3b favors Höllviken the most because it does not require major intervention. At the same time the option maintains the network traffic character and provides improved accessibility and travel time for travelers. (Less)
