- This thesis is about understanding weapon graves and the symbols in the grave goods. To try and see what lies hidden behind the Viking Age warrior identity and understand the theatrical side of Viking Age graves. By analyzing the weapon and equestrian graves the author hopes to see the mentality of the peoples during the Viking Age. The grave goods are the key to understand people’s beliefs and view on life and death. The aim of the thesis is to investigate if we can understand the people of the Viking Age through the only unbiased source that exist today, the graves and the grave goods symbolism.
