Abstract
In this thesis I study two different legal relationships on the subject of family reunification.
The first is how the principle of the best interest of the child relate to family reunification. What are the possibilities for children to be reunified with their families within the Swedish legal system? What other interests may surpass the principle of the best interest of the child?

The other relationship is between the right to family reunification in Sweden/the rest of the EU and the European Convention on Human Rights. How do Article 8, the right to family life, relate to the Directive of the Right to Family Reunification 2003/86/EC and the Swedish Aliens Act (2005:716)? These are some questions I try to answer in this thesis. (Less)
