Abstract
This master thesis develops and tests models for simulation of district heating networks. Starting with an example of a thermodynamical system, methods were developed to describe the system with modules. Three elementary modules have been defined: R-, E- and C-module. (R=resistance, E=energy transport element, C=capacitor) More complicated components, such as boilers and heat exchangers, can be viewed as composed of several elementary modules. Any thermodynamical system can be built up only by the elementary modules. Models have been developed, from known physical equations, to be able to describe the function of the elementary modules in mathematical terms. Programs have been written in SIMNON for the elementary modules. They have been... (More)

Models have been developed, from known physical equations, to be able to describe the function of the elementary modules in mathematical terms. Programs have been written in SIMNON for the elementary modules. They have been tested individually. A number of examples of small systems have been constructed and some simulations with these have been performed. (Less)
