One part of the study is a literature study which aim is to identify previous research done within
the field of project management. The interviews are performed in a combined way of qualitative and quantitative methods and are made in corporation with five project managers of the selected company. Theory and empirical data are analyzed and compared on the basis of the problem. Conclusion: The study shows that a project manager is not involved in every specific detail of the project and that their main task is to ensure that the project keeps going forward with the right direction. It can also be concluded from the study that the most important skills in the role as a project manager are decision making and project knowledge. Furthermore the study shows that the most common problems a project manager could be facing during the project stage are related to a mismatched organization in the project and a weak communication between the project manager and the client or the subcontractors. Finally the study suggests that the company should start cooperate more over the boarders within the company in order to reduce the amount of mismatched organizations and that the cooperation between the contractor and the client should be improved by increasing the number of projects that are performed in the cooperation format of partnering.
