- This bachelor thesis has studied the established routines and procedures among protection and support for children after visiting a "Barnahus". The purpose of a "Barnahus" is to develop effective investigations based on the suspicion that a child is or have been harmed. In addition, "Barnahus'" should also provide protection and support to the child in case of a lawsuit against child victims. The aim of this study is to describe the existing procedures regarding the follow-up of child protection and support after visiting the "Barnahus". Our interest in studying the follow-up of child protection and support after visiting the "Barnahus" developed after reading a study that showed that children was sent home to the suspected guardian alone, without anyone from the ”Barnahus”.
The study was conducted with the help of a mixed method study that combined web based survey and interviews. The results of the web based survey showed that half of the respondents worked with established procedures among protection and support for children after visiting a "Barnahus". Additionally, the results of the interviews showed that deficiencies exist in the "Barnahus". The deficiencies consist, among other things, of lack of time and resources, which in turn could affect the child's protection and support in a lawsuit.
The results were analysed utilizing norm theory since the relationship between norms process and establishment of the procedures at "Barnahus" has been the focus of this study. By discussing "is" and "ought" there was an opportunity to elevate the norm to a rule of law. Foremost, the analysis showed that with a rule of law we could therefore use a law and/or a certification as a potential solution for the existing deficiencies in "Barnahus”. Hence, this repost concludes that national procedures such as law or/and certifications would be a possible solution to the problems that the respondents in this study has shown. (Less)
