- The ambition of this essay is to achieve a greater understanding of how adolescence and sport can act as a protective factor and as crime prevention. All the positive effects that sports provide to all kinds of people are something that is even more important for adolescents (Riksidrottsförbundet (2009) Idrotten vill - idrottsrörelsens idéprogram 2016, s.13-14). The commune of Lund took this knowledge into action when they in the years 2012 - 2015 founded the political program of sports and made a list of 100 things they want to improve within the commune (Lunds kommun, 2012 s. 3). Throughout the essay we interpreters these goals and connect to the sociology of law. The problem in our opinion is that the follow-up is inadequate. We want to give the program a greater understanding of the social control and the sociology of law, for the sake of the adolescence. From this, the essay will try to answer the questions “how can you understand the way the commune of Lund works with the political program of sports?” and “how can you explain sports as crime prevention from Travis Hirschi’s theory about social control”? As a method, qualitative and inductive structure is used in the essay combined with semi-structured interviews. Hirschis’ theory about social control will provide a greater understanding of the social norms and the connection with sociology of law (Hirschi 2009, s. 16). The interviews with Mikael Johansson and Björn A. Larsson, who works at different departments within the program, will give precise and up-to-date information about the program. This will further provide our analysis a discussion and understanding. Some of the subjects that are presented in the essay is for example those who cannot afford a membership in an athletic club. In conclusion we can confirm our theory due to the occupation of the adolescent. Furthermore answer the question how they work with the program. It gives us an understanding and explanation that the sociology of law is very important in the present and in the future. (Less)
