In this particular study it has been shown that the main contributing factor to why young people in Örebro choose not to testify, is based on the norms that prevail in the groups to which these young people are involved. To inform outsiders of information that is considered confidential in the youth group, is by the group viewed as deviant behaviour, and therefore sanctioned by the stigmatization of those who have violated the group norms. A social sanction that leads to exclusion, caused by the deviant action known as ”snitching”. (Less)
