Metod
(Less) - Abstract

Purpose
The aim of this study is to contribute to a greater understanding of resistance to change in general. In particular, we will contribute to the understanding of how resistance to change evolves over time and what repercussions it may have on the relationship between leaders and followers.
Methodology
We conducted a qualitative study with an abductive approach and the empirical data was collected through semi-structured interviews.
Theoretical perspective
The study takes on a relational perspective, where the interaction between leaders and followers play an important role.
Empirical foundation
Eleven semi-structured interviews were carried out in a municipal real estate company in Sweden. One interview was with the CEO and the rest with other employees.
Conclusions
This study has shown that resistance to change can be difficult to overcome and should not be seen as something that is reduced with time. We believe that resistance can persist and have an impact on the relationships within an organization and therefore also to the organization itself over a long period of time. (Less)
