Abstract
This qualitative study seeks to highlight the contributing factors of social exclusion of asylum
seekers and refugees in Glasgow. Deriving from an internship at the organisation Scottish
Refugee Council in Glasgow, this study is based on primary data that has been gathered from
a community conference with asylum seekers and refugees, as well as from interviews with
staff from the organisation. Its purpose is to give an insight in the issues of social exclusion

The results indicate that the biggest causes for social exclusions are the asylum... (More)

The results indicate that the biggest causes for social exclusions are the asylum process, the
enforced policy of destitution, as well as lacking english skills which creates an extra barrier
to integrating in addition to the economically and psychologically impoverishing process of
asylum. (Less)
