Abstract
The Resource-Based View describes processes in which business corporations develop competitive advantages. Dierickx & Cool (1989) identifies the imitability in an asset stock as dependent of the process in which it is accumulated. The authors highlight different situations which aggravates the imitability in an asset stock. Two of these are Asset Mass Efficiencies and Interconnectedness of Asset Stocks, and in this study specialization is interpreted as a possible driver of these situations. This is not mentioned in RBV. Based on this the study identifies the relation between competitiveness and the model of financing where mechanisms of the credibility cycle are valued as enhancing of established hierarchies.

The financing of centres of learning is partly based on performance. Therefore this study investigates the correlation between economic input and performance. Based on this result it is of interest to study variables that can lead to better performance and thereby higher financing. Variables of great interest are year of establishment, specialization and status. Specialization was chosen due to impressionableness (centres of learning), measureability (the study) and differentiation (analysis unit).

The study shows a very strong correlation between economic input and performance. The correlation between specialization and performance is not quite as strong, but still significant. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
