- Abstract
- This paper is a study of how actors have chosen to utilize the videogame Minecraft, as a way of getting citizen involved in the planning of spaces. This is done by interviews with people in charged for leading the projects, in aim for answering if citizen participation is increased. But also what the method requires and who it speaks to, and what effectiveness that is achieved in the process. The material is then measured by theories in planning, citizen partic-ipation and political science. Minecraft is a great tool for attracting youth to participate, however the influence and a greater number of participant isn´t achieved. - This paper is a study of how actors have chosen to utilize the videogame Minecraft, as a way of getting citizen involved in the planning of spaces. This is done by interviews with people in charged for leading the projects, in aim for answering if citizen participation is increased. But also what the method requires and who it speaks to, and what effectiveness that is achieved in the process. The material is then measured by theories in planning, citizen partic-ipation and political science. However, it also noted in the interview, how Minecraft if rightly used, can open up a discussion in hard subjects in which a deliberative democracy use can occur. This is something hard to create and even when it happens it still lacking the ability to share the values found in minecraft, with the rest of the society and some concerns about it being a method mostly for males need to be lifted.
