An analysis of fixed water sprinkler systems on ro-ro decks
(2010) In LUTVDG/TVBB VBRM01 20092Division of Fire Safety Engineering
- Abstract
- This report is a cost benefit analysis of a proposal for new sprinkler installation guidelines for ro-ro deck. It is a relative comparison between the present guidelines and a new proposal developed by SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden. The results and conclusions in this report are based on; data gathered from multiple water sprinkler tests, other relevant literature, experts’ judgment and computer simulations. The conclusions based on the results are that it would most likely be profitable for the shipping companies if the proposal is adopted. Capital would be saved due to a lowered frequency of
sever fire incidents and also a decrease of the expected loss of life.
